Quotes for the day

Do more than anyone expects, and pretty soon everyone will expect more.

If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts.

Ogden's Law:

Code the Page

Working, and listening to Metallica this what the result code be

On a long information highway, setting in my office
you can listen to the processor moaning out as one line code
you think about the script, or the code you wrote the night before

But your thoughts would soon be wandering the way they always do
When your working sixteen hours, and theres no much fun to do
And you don't feel much like working, you just wish the project was through

Here I am - in the office again
There I am - coding the stage
Here I go - playing geek again
There I go - code the page

So you walk into this balcony, strung out from the work
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the code
you pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to encode.

Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichés, is it a feature? is it a bug?
And you always seem outnumbered, you don’t dare code a patch
code your patch

Here I am - in the office again
There I am - coding the stage
Here I go - playing geek again
There I go - code the page

Oo-ooh, out there in the spotlight, you’re a million lines away
Every ounce of code you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the code that you write, yeah

Later in the evening, you lie awake on your chair
With the echoes of the alerts ringing in your head
You smoke the day’s last cigarette, remembering what he said
What he said

He-ey

Yeah
And here I am - in the office again
There I am - coding the stage
Here I go - playing geek again
There I go - code the page
There I go - code the page
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, oo-oo-ooh
There I go
And I’m gone

I guess I'm going to release an album when this project is over :D

Memoirs with Alanis

Now I'm listening to one of the most beautiful songs I've heard, it "That I would be good" for Alanis Morissette, every time I hear it I remember some period of my life, I was without a job, broke, and so much depressed, I remember every time I hear this song the tears just wont stop falling, the only thing that she tells me that I would be good, well know I have a job, a good one, and not broke, but of course I don't have much money, just keeps me surviving, but I'm so damn depressed, for me I still believe that I would be good.
for those who are asking here is the lyrics of that song.

that I would be good even if I did nothing
that I would be good even if I got the thumbs down
that I would be good if I got and stayed sick
that I would be good even if I gained ten pounds

that I would be fine even if I went bankrupt
that I would be good if I lost my hair and my youth
that I would be great if I was no longer queen
that I would be grand if I was not all knowing

that I would be loved even when I numb myself
that I would be good even when I am overwhelmed
that I would be loved even when I was fuming
that I would be good even if I was clingy

that I would be good even if I lost sanity
that I would be good whether with or without you

Chain Letters

A typical chain letter consists of a message that attempts to induce the recipient to make a number of copies of the letter and then pass them on to one or more new recipients. A chain letter can be considered a type of meme, a self-replicating piece of information that uses a human host to distribute copies of itself. Common methods used by chain letters include emotionally manipulative stories, get-rich-quick pyramid schemes, and the exploitation of superstition to threaten the recipient with bad luck or even physical violence if he or she "breaks the chain" and refuses to adhere by the conditions set out by the letter.
So, let's define "chain letter". A chain letter is ANY e-mail that contains instructions to "forward this out" or "forward this to everyone you know" or anything else of that nature. Who creates chain letters? Now you might want to think that when you get an e-mail telling you there's some sick child with cancer and they will receive $0.03 for every time this e-mail gets forwarded out, in fact the mental image may just tug at your heart strings so bad that you forward it to other news or joke lists that you're on, in hopes of spreading the word and bring hope to this poor kid.

Well, guys, the thing I hate more than receiving SPAM, is receiving Chain Letters, it usually has a big size, as everybody in the whole stupid part of the earth, has forwarded it to somebody else who has forwarded it to another body to ..... and forwarded it to me.
Alright, there is no sick girl whom AOL has paid a fu***** cent for each one receiving a damn message, Hotmail is not going to delete your account if you don't send this message, (they can know when was the last time you logged in to make sure you are using it), and Bill Gates is not throwing money over anybody, and you wont get a free mobile, or a free shit or anything. you are not going to be rich or anything.
Chain Messages are used by spammers, as they collect as much emails as they want throw this thing, imagine a single chain message going around, and then getting back to the same spammer who sent it, how many emails he would've received. What could happen if people were wise enough not send this shit all around? do you enjoy having this FREE SOFTWARE, or VIAGRA, or stupid things going around in you're mailbox? if no, then stop forwarding this damn emails.
if you are not convinced yet, well then enjoy your life, but don't send me any stupid chain message.

Birthday Meme

While wasting some time on the Internet, I found this here and here, It kind of excited me.

Go to Wikipedia. In the Search box, type your birth month and day (but not year). List three events that happened on your birthday. List two important birthdays and one interesting death. Post this in your journal.

Three events:
1492 - Christopher Columbus lands in Cuba.
1868 - Thomas Edison applied for his first patent, the electric vote recorder.
1981 - The heavy metal band Metallica is founded in San Francisco. (I used to listen to this band, when I enjoyed Heavy Metal, I still listen to some of there songs)

Two birthdays:
1955 - Bill Gates, American software pioneer. (It doesn't mean anything, I'm still an open source guy).
1967 - Julia Roberts, American actress. (Don't you just love her)

One death:
1973 - Taha Hussein, Egyptian writer (b. 1889)

Our Slavery in the 21st Century

"Finish it by the date, and you will all get a big bonus" he said. Poison was written all over these words, we knew that it was impossible, but we had hope, we all needed that money so bad to do all what it takes to do it.
The last days were like living in HELL, no sleep, no life, nothing but work. and all those obstacles were thrown in our way, we tried to pass them all, we wanted to finish it, but now it's over, and it's all our fault.
Well, I'm not going to blame anybody but myself, I won't gamble on my life again. I remember in the hours of the dawn yesterday, when all hope was gone, the only thing that I wanted is to throw everything and to go home, but when I looked in your eyes, with the hope is still in them, I knew I've been a source of depression for you, but the only thing that kept me was you, I didn't give a shit about that stupid bonus, I wanted to go on for you guys.
You know, when I take a positive look on what happened, the only thing that I see is that we were a team, and a hell of a team we were, we've held each other when we were down, we helped each other in every possible way, well thank you guys, I've never felt that I've been in a team, as much as I felt it with you, thanks.
In the end, I'm just down, I'm feeling so f****** down.

Men & Women

Lately I read some posts either against women, or against men (we even had a discussion in the JP meeting -sorry I came late-), so that is why I'm writing.
Well there are several misunderstandings in this point, the first one, if you want to defend something, you don't have to fight others, you can just stick to the defending part, another one is the misunderstanding of equalities, Men and women were never equal, and will never be, or there wouldn't have been women or men, (it's the natures law), equality always comes in the rights, they are both humans, they deserve to have equal rights as humans.
In a society like ours, women have a lot of trouble living with their rights, there parents are against it, the society is against it, and sometimes the law is against it.
An example of what I see the situation, is like two brothers, one can do anything he likes (he has all the chocolate), and another one always blamed, and everybody loves the other one more than him, what happens here is that the second child starts hating the first one, and the first one starts to believe that he is better than the second one.
They say that women are less intelligent than men, well if you take a kid, and lock him in a room, for all his life, and take another kid and let him play go out, and do a lot of things, in the end, you would have a kid that is less intelligent, and maybe (MAYBE) a smart one, well women in our society are always locked in the room, and surprisingly a lot of them are smarter than a lot of men, which proves that women can be smart, now imagine how smart could that woman be if she wasn't locked in the room, if she could take her own choices when she was young (without a big revolution in the house), I guess we would have genius women hanging around.
But, in the end this doesn't mean that they should fight men, all men, well how many mothers ruined her daughters life, how many women criticized with no mercy any movement of a woman to liberate her self, how about not fighting anyone right now, how about we just start of liberating our selves without hurting anyone (except those who try to steal it).
And for those who are against women, well imagine the world without women, well, if you want it in the right path, women can rule us without us knowing, or even with our approval.
I just wish that all of this crap can end, and we start living like humans.

Kubuntu.de Protestwoche

To calrify the seriosness of the situation, kubuntu.de will be offline for one week beginning as from Monday, 10.04.2006 ...

Kubuntu.de Started a Protest Week
This website, including the forum, the mailing lists and the respective IRC channels (#kubuntu-de and #kubuntu-de-team) has one aim: to support the community, to offer a platform to the users of Kubuntu and, last but not least, to boost the Kubuntu-project so as to make it an outstanding distribution.

I just recieved this note from LinuxToday, well it so sad to see an opensource project reaches this point, but I'm speachless here.

Another Definition of a Holiday

Well if you remember my first definition to a holiday, well I guess I have another one:

A holiday is the day that you can go to work late, and you can have lunch (Falafel) break whenever you like, whereas a working day is the day that you have to go to work early, and you have to take your falafel break only at a specific time, if you didn't take it, el 3awad b salamtak

Crash

A Brentwood housewife and her DA husband. A Persian storeowner. Two police detectives, who are also lovers. A black television director and his wife. A Mexican locksmith. Two car-jackers. A rookie cop. A middle-aged Korean couple. They all live in Los Angeles. And, in the next 36 hours, they will all collide.
Great Movie, Great Soundtrack, Deserves the Oscar, what can I say more? At last I had the chance to watch it, it’s really great.
This movie talks about the racism that the Americans (and not just them, it’s everywhere) are living. It talks about those raciest by choice, and others who had to be. I’m not going to talk a lot about it, I prefer that you see it.

The Machines Gone Crazy

Man, the tears are almost in my eyes. Today when I reached home, I found that the wind had made miseries in my house, it threw everything, it looked like an earthquake hit the place. After tidying up a little bit, I turned on the computer, and damn, the monitor didn't work, "there might be something with the cable", I thought, so I tried changing the power cable, but with no use, the situation is still the same, so I approached the monitor, and stuck my nose into it's back, "Damn!", I said, "The f****** monitor has burned, she's f****** dead", game over.
After 12 years of loyalty, and being the perfect monitor any man wants, it's the end, she's dead, she never had any problem of any kind, My GoldStar 1462GN is dead. Also given the fact that I'm almost bankrupt, I can't afford to bye a new one now.
So, I turned on the fan, to change the air in the room, after the smell of the dead, and BOOOM!, the fan turned into 6 pieces, flying all over the place, I couldn't explain what happened.
I was afraid to use any of the other machines, as I cannot afford another dead in my house, so I picked up my notebook, to write anything, just doing something, I had 4 pens, and yes, as expected, none of them wrote anything.
AAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh, what the hell is going on today, everything is going crazy, aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!

Programming Languages, are they spoken

Well, since a long time ago, I started programming, I used to think in plain English, then start translating it to the programming language wanted.
Nowadays, I guess, I think using that language, sometimes, I speak it. a week ago a colleague asked for my help about an issue, I just grab the keyboard, and started writing, (it was a little complicated thing), when I finished, I looked at it, and told him there is an error here, this won't run, (I just didn't knew where did that inspiration came from), then we both started looking in the code about what is wrong, and vola; a semicolon was missing (I just can't explain what happened).
Usually, if you enter my office, you would find me discussing an issue with my office mate, you would find us talking code, (usually PHP), we speak that language.
well after that most of my life is with my computer writing code, i guess, maybe in one day I would forget English (and Arabic) and just talking PHP.
A friend of mine suggests that I shouldn't see a computer for a couple of days, and start spending less time with computers, (I just can't help it).

Sign of Thyme

Yesterday, after finishing the process of watching The Waiting (Al-Entzar) - A Palestinian movie which was really great it was played at Zara Expo Auditorium – Grand Hyatt Amman-, we headed directly to the Royal Cultural Center, to watch Sign of Thyme band playing there album Like All People.
I really liked the concert, it was nice, it's the first time for me to see this band, it's a group of 5, Yacoub Abu Ghosh (Bass Guitar), Ahmad Barakat (Oud), Tareq Abu Kweik (Drums), Saeb Omari (Classical Guitar), and Ali Dabbagh (Percussion).
I really love this guy called Yacoub, he is the best Bass player I've ever seen from Jordan, he is even better than me. (Kidding :P, No body is better than me, Kidding Again :P), He really played A great Bass (I loved his 6 Strings Bass), but there was a little problems for him, I think that the Amplifier he used wasn't for a Bass, it's like when Playing Bass on a guitar amp, when he goes to low levels, the sound just gets dizzy, I hope that he can buy a new amp :). other thing When he went out on solos, well his solos were not the best. for me it felt like, I don't have anything to say, I'm just trying to impress you, it was really empty.
Well the drummer (Tareq) and the percussionist (Ali) was great, they just come into there place, they did a great job. And the guitarist (Saeb) was so unlucky with the sound system, his playing was not heard, but he really played great, This Band really need a good sound engineer, Regarding the Oud player (Ahmad), well, I didn't like it much, I don't know, maybe because it's hard for an Oud player to satisfy me, but I didn't feel any sense in his playing, sorry man.
Other than that the concert was really great, I really loved there song Asma ( it's not released yet :( ), and I hated there version of Around Midnight, Maybe cause I heard Miles Davis Version.
Hope the best for Jordanian bands.
By the way, these guys also need to fix there website :P
